Awesome Week

This week I got to pretend that I was both a nurse, doctor, dental assistant, dentist, dermatologist, oncologist, surgeon, pedodontist and porter-none of which I really am. I was on hospital roster, you see, and so I was shadowing and assisting these folks. I got to see some amazing things-including peoples jaws being sawed, chiseled and separated and then being screwed and wired back together. The most drastic thing I saw was the emptying of almost an entire side of a mandible from the body all the way up to the condylar head. Yikes. Word to the wise-if you have a cyst get it removed early. The funniest moment of the week came when we were treating a patient who had some limited mental abilities. Not funny because of his condition-this kid was genuinely hilarious...

The Ranting is Over!

Yes! The 20D is in the house. Now it is going to be going out of the house as we have a big family shoot planned for today. We got a shot in the hallway of my college of our family beginning school. Since then there have been some drastic changes so we want to duplicate the shot each year of my schooling to track our families growth (in all directions and in number!) I got so fed up with not having my camera that I figured I better call the photo store with some ammo. I called another shop and they just happened to have one in stock. Since I prepaid for my camera some 4.5 weeks ago I brought that into the equation too. Whatta ya know after putting the screws to em’ it turns out my camera was there after all. Probably a coincedence but I’d like to think...

For My Mother

This is my first post from my first blog that I killed by mucking around. Through more mucking around I recovered this post that my Mom was dissappointed was lost. Gotta love phpMyAdmin! On 2004-07-27 @ 03:20:27 I wrote: When your alone you do stupid things I’m away from my family for a few days-essentially a bachelor-and my obsession with technology has once again gotten the better of me. It is now 3 a.m. and I’m still awake with a day of work ahead of me. I’ve been working on setting up this blog just so and though it is pleasing I’m still going to be tired eventually. I’ll console my foolishness with the hope that my brother Conor living in Scotland will be online anytime soon to talk (highly doubtful). My fridge is virtually...

Down Boy

Once again I’m drooling over all the Mac computers I would like to buy. The list is now up to a new iMac and a new laptop. In a perfect world I would have the most souped up Powerbook ever. But today’s newest iBooks aren’t that far off, not to mention gorgeous white and cheaper. Almost enough to make me go into the Camera store get my money refunded from my yet to arrive camera and redistribute the funds. I’ll ask Daria .

Canon Hurry Up!

I love autumn. It is such a handsome time of year and our town was just gorgeous this past three weeks. I say was because it snowed about 3-4 inches last night. There were still a few spots in the city with superb yellow and orange leaves clinging on for life but I’m positive that none will survive the next 3 days. I bought my wife a pyscho-awesome camera for her birthday some 3 weeks ago and it still still hasn’t come in. We call just about everyday to annoy and pester the staff and still nothing. Apparently we have been at the top of the list for the entire time which is now above 10 people. I’m ticked. Well maybe not ticked but frustrated to the point of being severely crest-fallen every time I see a great photo opportunity. I’m sure...

I’ve Slacked Enough

Okay so it has been awhile. Where have I been you ask? Mostly living. 2 weeks ago I began an adventure in web design using CSS. If you don’t know what this is it comes down to this: CSS is a the ultra cool way to design webpages freeing yourself from table based design. It’s dynamic, fun, fast and responsive. I can change one line of code and the entire site adjusts. There is one problem though-not every browser is on the cutting edge of CSS. Surprisingly (or not surprising in the slightest) IE by Microsoft is the worst. Mozilla based browsers like Firefox and Safari seem the best. Not to mention I have neverseen a pop-up window once while using these browsers. Needless to say CSS is the future of the Web according to the W3C and any designer worthy of...

Daniel & Nathaniel-The Moment of Truth

We arrived at the stylish Fall Welcome event around 6 that night. Everyone was dressed up to the nines (maybe even to the tens) and obviously enjoying themselves. After some initial chatting we found our table. Soon after that a few of the organizers informed me that we would be starting soon. One of my classmates in charge of the event even asked me if I was ready. I was ready, quite ready, and I took comfort in the fact that I had prayed many times throughout my life in private and in public. Thinking on it now, I imagine the request to stand in front of a large group of people and pray could prove quite dizzying. I disarmed any nervousness by reminding myself that a prayer is simply communion with God-important, even sacred, but if there is anyone who is...
