For Easter Break this year we decided to travel across the border to Washington and visit the lovely city of Spokane. Partly because we hadn’t ever been there, and mostly because the iPad was being released in the US and we wanted one for our very own. It’s always sweet to coincide our family trips with an Apple launch (you laugh but it actually works out fairly often for us). While in Spokane we shopped, took the kids to the children’s museum, viewed the IMAX 3D version of “How to Train Your Dragon”, swam in the hotel pool, attended an Easter play downtown at the convention centre, enjoyed the beauty of Riverside Park and all the amazing bridges/waterfalls, took in an arena football game with the Spokane Shock, and ate at SONIC drive-in twice…YUM. On our drive home we stayed at a cool hotel in Fernie with a killer waterslide – the kids loved it.
There’s just nothing like being able to get away together as a family. I am always so impressed with the kids, they travel so well now (even Lola – her first road trip and she slept the whole way on both legs of the trip). Sweet baby. Here’s just a few pics from our family getaway, I have most posted in my Flickr Stream too.

Finally I have photographic proof that Noah indeed is smitten with his sister Lola, (he’s just been camera shy about it). Noah is crazy about her and so soft and tender. He comes to me 10 times a day and tells me “Mommy I LOVE my Lola!”
It’s precious to see your children love each other, what could be better?!

On Saturday we took a drive out to Sparwood to show the boys “The World’s Biggest Truck”. We didn’t mention that it was the biggest in the world to them, instead we just pointed out the window as we drove up and said “Look at that HUGE truck!”, suddenly Joshy pipes up from the back seat and exclaims “I’ve seen bigger!” ROTFL.
Oh Joshy you delight your Daddy and I with your hilarious observations and funny comments!

I have frequented several amazing adoption blogs over the years. I always admired the courage and strength it must have taken those awaiting parents until their precious child was finally in their arms for good. Now I am experiencing this first hand, and I must admit how much more I admire all those who do this, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced bar none. To know our daughter and spend time with her, but also have to say goodbye to her and hand her back to her foster family so often, well it sucks! (there is no pretty way of saying it)
I can’t describe the joy I feel when she is with us, it’s like our family is complete and safe and together. And just as I start to relax into the beauty of having my children all around, well time is up and we’re saying goodbye again. I don’t know how many more goodbyes I have in me, it just kills me to continuously walk away when all I want is to scoop her up and have her home with us forever. I worry that Little Miss will begin to see us as inconsistent, with the comings and goings, and no end in sight as yet. I know that she loves us, but I don’t want to feel like a glorified babysitter who drops in and out of eyesight. I want to be Mommy, who she can count on and who will be her safe haven. (I’m crying as I write this tonight).
I guess I never realized how tough this would be, but now I know. I can only imagine the immense joy we will feel when the judge finally says “yes, she’s yours!”. I am holding that image in my mind because all the waiting and little communication from case workers is unbearable.
Thank you so much to everyone who has commented, sent emails, called, consoled and prayed for us. I’m in your debt, your encouragement gives me strength each day and hope that soon we’ll get the call that will change our world.

Nathan and I are feeling the rush to plan our holidays with the kids this year. We had the most amazing experience last summer traveling to Palm Desert and also spending time at Disneyland and Newport Beach. Our kids ask me daily when we can go back there again. Their favorite thing was the pool at our hotel, it was just amazing and exclusively theirs most of the time. If you’re faint of heart, I don’t recommend going to the desert in August like we did – it was sweltering hot! But slap on the sunscreen, grab a hat, and tote TONS of water and you’re ready to play.
I must say that making those memories with my kids has been one of the greatest highlights for me over the past several years. In all honesty, it was our first BIG trip anywhere with the kids. Our typical holidays are usually spent at family’s homes and reunions. So going somewhere just us, on a plane was a real adventure and treat. No matter what you do, it’s magical to get away with your children and get to know them in a whole new way, and it’s fun for them to see Mom and Dad unhook and party it up with them too.
I’m so looking forward to a fun summer with our four boys + our new little girl! Now that’s going to be an adventure just traveling with them all! LOL!
** So tell me, what are YOUR plans this summer? Are you going somewhere special or are you adventuring in your own home town? I’d love to know!

Here is our sweet little girl that will soon be joining our family! We spent the bulk of this past weekend with her, visiting, dancing and playing. The boys got to meet Little Miss for the first time and it went very well. They can’t wait to take her home and either can I! Our paperwork is in, the case worker is totally onboard, and given us the green light to bond with her to our hearts content. What joy!! Isn’t she adorable??
I’ll share more details as I’m able to over the coming weeks. We get to spend loads of time with her over the holidays and on Christmas Day!
Details I can share are that she is 18 months old, loves to dance, has darling natural curly ringlet hair. We’re so blessed!!

Halloween was such a blast this year. The kids were so excited for the big day to arrive, it’s always such fun to see what everyone dresses up as. For my boys it was the year of the Super Hero! Dylan dressed as Fred Flinstone, Joshua was Movie Batman, Brigs was Original TV Batman, and Noah transformed into Spiderman with the help of his big brothers. We originally thought he would go as a dragon, but once he saw Joshy and Brigs only a superhero would do!!
Dylan came home from school on Friday and asked if he could decorate the house outside. We had a blast turning the front porch into something Halloween Special. Covered in cobwebs, spiders, ghosts, bats, a fog machine, laser and strobe lights. It was a little work of art! People were driving by and slowing down to have a peek so the kids were pretty excited to have such a cool looking house. This year the weather was so warm and pleasant, we needed no jackets! YAY!!
In the end the boys got way too much candy, but they feel asleep with big smiles. What more could a Mommy want?!
Attached are a few links to some short video clips from our Halloween. I hope yours was just a magical and fun!

Our dreams are coming true, Boutique Cafe is heading to California!! We’re going to be taping a Video podcast for Boutique Cafe at Disneyland next week!
I’ll be at the park next Tues, Wed, Thursday. If you’re going to be there with your kids, dress them in Boutique, we’ll be watching for you – I’d love to get them into the segment! If you’re a designer this would be a great way to showcase your designs in the happiest place on earth!
We hope to meet several of our Boutique Moms there, and your Disney-kids too!! If you’re going to be in the area, please leave me a comment below and I’ll email you my cell number so we can hook up at the Disneyland park.
