November 11, 2008Little Miss
November 8, 2008So yesterday we jumped in the car and drove up to meet with the case workers regarding, the sweet gorgeous little 18 month old girl we are wanting to adopt. I’ve decided to nickname her “Little Miss” when referring to her on my blog until we know if she will be ours for sure – when it’s official I’ll share her name.
Happy to report that the meeting was better than anticipated, and her case worker is just a stellar guy with an amazing attitude! Little Miss was there the entire time, and once she warmed up to us after a few minutes all she wanted to do was cuddle and play. It was super sweet beyond words. We have some paperwork and hurdles ahead, but this could happen relatively quickly if all goes well. She could potentially be home with us permanently in three months, but can visit lots before that and even stay with us for a few days at a time. It’s an amazing process to be able to bond with her before she comes home, I’m grateful for that especially considering her age. It would break my heart to just go and pick her up from everything she knows before she even knew us. I’m sure it will be hard for her to leave the loving foster home she has been in since only a few weeks old, and come to live with us. I’m encouraged by the amazing adoptive families I know of and their example. You can bet that I’ll be peppering Jackie with loads of questions. She just adopted a little girl from Taiwan a few months ago and it’s been thrilling to hear their story. She’s been so honest about their transition, the bumps and the joys. Thanks for that Jackie! XO!
Noah’s Words
November 6, 2008Tonight my 3.5 year old came up to me and sweetly said “Mommy, I love our family!”
I can’t tell you how much I love that Noah of mine.
Our Outstanding News
November 2, 2008 Well it’s time to break the ice and share our excitement with the blogosphere – we’re having a baby!! Some may be surprised to hear this news, I believe I have professed being DONE for awhile now. What can I say? Things change and I couldn’t be any more thrilled that our family is growing. I’ve always dreamed of a big family, I adore children so this is super joyful for us. We had been seriously looking into adoption this year, and are still on that course as well at this point (we have an interview/meeting today). So potentially we could be adding two children into our family within the year! (that’s 6 kids for those who were trying to count it)
At this point we’re only a mere 7 weeks (judging from the dates we have), that would put us with a June 23rd Due Date. I’ll definitely update that should any stats push us back or forward a week or so.
So now comes the harder part, I haven’t had a great track record when it comes to pregnancy. With my four boys I was pretty much sick 24/7 the entire 9 months. I’m hoping for some reprieve this time around, but just in case I get weak and weepy I am lucky enough to have a tremendous support system in our extended family. I feel confident that I’ll be able to get through these months and have a healthy little bundle to love. The comment keeps coming up about whether I’m hoping for a girl, and the answer is….I’m considering myself expecting a boy until I hear otherwise! LOL! Our track record shows that testosterone is prevalent in our little gene pool so I’m thinking blue, and if pink creeps in there then I’ll be OVER THE MOON!
A cool thing about this whole expecting experience is that my sister-in-law Liz is also having a baby around the same time. Our little darlings with be born likely in the same month and I can’t tell you how thrilling it will be to have a little buddy cousin that is their exact age! I’m kind of scared to be pregnant next to her though, she always has the cutest little preggo belly and looks fantastic. I’m worried that I may just reach whale status this time around!! ROTFL. However many pounds I gain, I’m very grateful and know that we’re very blessed. Thank you for your support and excitement for us, it means so much! – Daria
We had a Happy Halloween
November 1, 2008Halloween was such a blast this year. The kids were so excited for the big day to arrive, it’s always such fun to see what everyone dresses up as. For my boys it was the year of the Super Hero! Dylan dressed as Fred Flinstone, Joshua was Movie Batman, Brigs was Original TV Batman, and Noah transformed into Spiderman with the help of his big brothers. We originally thought he would go as a dragon, but once he saw Joshy and Brigs only a superhero would do!!
Dylan came home from school on Friday and asked if he could decorate the house outside. We had a blast turning the front porch into something Halloween Special. Covered in cobwebs, spiders, ghosts, bats, a fog machine, laser and strobe lights. It was a little work of art! People were driving by and slowing down to have a peek so the kids were pretty excited to have such a cool looking house. This year the weather was so warm and pleasant, we needed no jackets! YAY!!
In the end the boys got way too much candy, but they feel asleep with big smiles. What more could a Mommy want?!
Attached are a few links to some short video clips from our Halloween. I hope yours was just a magical and fun!
