I’ve never really thought about an age cutoff as it applies to our decision to have more children. Oddly enough I have considered it in others (celebs etc). If I were to speak broadly (and doing my best to not past judgement on any individual situation) I think it best to start having kids before 30 and finish before 40. I agree with Katie that a certain number of kids has always seemed a necessity for me. My min was always 4 and like my sister Elizabeth I don’t like odd numbers (for no reason at all incidentally). So to me having another means having another!!

I married at 20 (almost 21!) and thought I’d like 4 kids by the time I’m 30. I’m 28 and preggo with number 4

I *think* we’re done after this one…

But, 30 seems much younger to me now than it did 10 years ago!

For me, it was number of kids that I had. I had 2 by the time I was 29 (less than 2 years apart)and quick, natural childbirths.
Although they were 2 very sweet girls, I knew it was probably as much as I could handle (and handle well). Now that they are grown, I sometimes wish they had more siblings to get together with, once they start their own families. I will say that they are very close to their cousins though. Most of my siblings and siblings-in-law have only 1 or 2 children, so all the cousins know how precious they are to each other.

My cut off is NOW! Seriously, this last kid has sucked my energy levels dry. Is it my age starting to rear it’s aging, energyless head, or is it my climbing the walls kid? Perhps a little of both.
PPD didn’t help things either. And, although I sometimes get that “Oh, maybe just one more” feeling when I hold a new baby, the kid that kicks me in the ribs all night long does a good job of brining me back to reality.

Haha! I’ve thought 6 kids and done by 30 is good. But over time my perspective has changed. I’d be happy with 3 and done by 35 lol. I just hope I get a good feeling that my last is my last. I’ve always wanted a big family because I never thought 4 kids was enough in my family and was always envious of my friends who had bigger families but now as I consider motherhood I worry that there won’t be enough love to go around or that I won’t be able to give each child the attention they need. I’ve heard that love in a mom just grows but who can blame me for being worried? lol. Complicated pregnancies scare me. And since I have family members who have had some serious trouble… I dunno! I guess it depends on how daring I am and whether we live in Canada or not!
