Giving Brangelina A Run For Their Money!
Two years old is such an “interesting” adventure, for the person going through it but more so for the family living through it. Case in point - Noah aka: Cranky Crankmeister
I swear I’ll never understand the logic of his method of displaying displeasure. He’s taken quite readily to ramming his head into whatever wall, floor or object is close by. This happens when he doesn’t want to do something or has even a minor objection. At first I was concerned that I hadn’t communicated to him the proper way to deal with unhappiness (have I not been a good example?) I’ll whine, complain, stomp my feet anything, but running headlong into a solid object and hoping for the best? I just don’t get it. No, Noah our boy is showing quite the temper these days. I worry that he’s going to get a concussion the way he’s going, and have started to look on ebay for some kind of helmet for the kid to wear 24/7. In the mean time I’m considering wrapping his head in toilet paper, but I’m scared Joshy will think he’s a pinata!
Cranky has also decided he’s beyond bedtime and has a fancy for late night tv with Letterman, Leno or the home shopping network. With the summer days his schedule is all out of wack and causing me to dream up new swear words in my head around 2 or 3 am. It is my creative time afterall. No seriously, how can I be expected to be the happy-go-lucky mom and wife when I get no sleep and have to worry about him running into walls at any moment? He’ll run around with what seems to be boundless energy and then crash in a heap on the floor and nap for an hour, wickedly dreaming of that super time he’s going to have later that night when it’s the wee hours and Mom is ready to die of exhaustion. WHEW!! Can you say therapy? Yes I need some please, a good hour on the couch would be a welcome rest.
On the bright side, once he’s smiling the kid is totally irresistable. He jumps on the trampoline, smiling and laughing while shouting “I’m HAPPY!!! I’m HAPPY!!” - maybe I’ll drag the trampoline inside the house tonight at midnight and see if that changes his tune.

Ya those temper tantrums are definitely not fun. Kimberly was temper tantrum kid. I remember watching this one commercial on tv when the kid was ripping apart a store shelf and the choices of what a parent should do came up. Yup! That kid was Kimberly to the “T.” Ridiculous I know. John would grab her by her legs and I’d grab her by her arms and we would put her in her room and hold the door closed. She would really let it loose as she blew off her steam - screaming, tearing her room apart… you name it she did it. One time I accidently gave her bloody nose when I was pinning her down. She never hit her head against things. Although one time John and I put an ice cream bucket on her head and laughed as she crawled into walls. As I recall this was a family funny event! Kimberly would peek out from under the bucket and giggle. And then she’d keep going! I have no suggestions. I just hope you get more sleep. Maybe give the kid cough medicine at night? Let me know what your solution is ya know… just in case I get a little buddy like that. Conor and Noah ARE just one day apart birthday wise… I love you! I wish I could come a sleep over and help you out!
