Dad stood behind me at the computer as we read your blog on Grandma B... we laughed and cried together. Oh my goodness, you did capture her perfectly. How we miss her and her uniqueness. Dad says he remembers well the day she asked him to go to the liquor store to get her some brandy...of course she said it was for her birds, Bud and Gigi, but we all know that when grandma wasn't feeling well she'd take a sip or two herself just to get going again!! Dad says he was thinking on the way out of the store "boy, I sure hope I don't run into the Bishop"...LOL
Oh my, the knife under the mattress! We always said we'd never want to be the person trying to break into grandma's house!! ha,ha.
How about the "cold cash"...yup, she'd keep her money locked in the deepfreeze and carry the key around with her wherever she went. It was like breaking into Fort Knox to get into that deepfreeze - but when you did, there was the cash hidden in a container under the cookies!
What a mother-in-law. I loved her with all my heart. Precious memories.
