Yesterday not only did I get the cleaning bug but I decided that I would make handmade Thank you cards for a bunch of people who sent gifts for Noah. Yes, I’m behind but better late than never right?! I took my scrap-booking paper out of storage and made about 9 cards in an hour. It was great – very satisfying. I have many more to do but it was nice to be creative in that way again and hopefully the fact that I took the time to make the thank you cards will excuse the fact that they are a month or so late getting out.

Oh this is rich! In an effort to keep my two year old out the the eggs (he loves to crack them on the floor!) Nathan and I put all the eggs into a bowl in the back of the refrigerator to try and camouflage it a bit. It was working for several days but yesterday the gig was up – he found ‘em! I took the bowl out of his hands and proceeded to lift the dozen or so up into the top cupboard until I could find a better solution. With both hands holding the bowl above my head I suddenly had an unexpected SNEEZE fest! I didn’t feel the sneeze coming on but as I surveyed the damage there were eggs and shells all over my kitchen floor and my gorgeous mid-day pj bottoms. Yep! over a dozen eggs just cracked and useless on my floor. I should have just let Brigs play with them – he would have enjoyed the cracking far more than I did! He just looked at me with a really cute expression like “It’s great isn’t it?!” If anyone comes on my site now and calls me a chicken abuser I’m gonna crack up!!!!! I mean it, the yolk’s on you! LOL!

OUCH!

January 18, 2005

I have been busy cleaning and organizing my house today, I just got the urge to make everything clean again! Don’t laugh! The urge doesn’t happen that often so I have to jump on it when it does. I went to collect the mail and managed to slam my own finger in the heavy front door. Oh my gosh, it hurt so bad. I bawled my eyes out until the pain subsided and now my entire finger has no feeling. I think I might lose my nail cuz the door slammed right smack dab in the middle of it! Oh the pain of it all. Maybe it’s a sign that I should stop cleaning and put my feet up for the rest of the day – lol! Bon bon’s anyone??

Anonymous name caller

January 17, 2005

Dear Myrrander or whomever you are, I am only sure of the fact that you are a total chicken to think that you can post on my blog, call me an “abusive parent” and not include your email
address or name. You have no idea who I am, or what type of parent I am but let me clue you in. I’m a darn good parent to my children, I have never claimed to be perfect or that I know what to do in every situation but I love and adore my children with all of my heart. I am in no way abusive of them, I love and respect each of them – they are the most important people in my life (along with my husband of course). My decision to circumcise my son has nothing to do with you and is none of your business. I posted for some family support and love today but make no mistake my decision was not mine alone but an informed decision made by myself, my husband and our health care professionals (I’ve talked with several of them actually). I have another son who is not circumcised and it’s been a difficult thing for him as he has had some medical issues from not being circumcised. This is a personal family decision – if you really had something educated to say I would welcome the information that you wanted to pass on in a Kind and Helpful manner. However, out right name calling is totally uncalled for and childish. I am not an abusive parent, I am a great parent and my kids are sweet, smart, healthy, caring children who love me and are going to be Fabulous grown-ups someday – just watch them shine!!!! I feel sorry for you, perhaps you should seek some help for your anger issues.

P.S.
Any further posts from you will be immediately removed from my site, we do not belittle people here so if you feel the need you’d best move on. To everyone else – I hope you all have a great day and thanks for your kind words for myself and for Noah.

I’m a big baby!

January 17, 2005

So today is Noah’s appointment for his circumsicion and I’m a basketcase. Mostly because Nathan is not able to get away today to come with me, he’s my rock in any situation involving potential pain or upset. I know that this is a somewhat routine thing and I do want it done for him but I’m just kinda queezy when it comes to things like this or when my kids have needed stitches etc. I am just a big baby – it’s about Noah and not me. I don’t like hearing my baby cry and I’m worried that I’m gonna crack without Nathan there to tell me it’s alright. I’m sure everything will be ok but if anyone wants to send me and Noah some “good vibes” I’d be really grateful!

Showdown at the Walmart

January 15, 2005

Our local Walmart is closing it’s doors and moving to a brand spankin’ new location. My friend Debbie let me know that the old Walmart was clearing out EVERYTHING at insane prices so of course we had to pile into the car in minus 50 degree weather to check it out. Oh man, I remember the Christmas rush and what it was like to be in a store getting bumped around. Everyone last night had this insane look in their eyes like they had to rush, push and Run over anyone who stood between them and that Spongebob shirt for their 3 year old that was marked down to $2.00!! A few unsuspecting guys were roaming the aisles like little lost puppies, not knowing what to do because there was no order, everything was moved around from it’s official Walmart spot. LOL! I know you guys have a map of where you need to go before you ever walk into a store – you plan out the fastest route and try to beat your last shopping record for getting in, getting stuff and getting out! These poor boys didn’t know what to do with themselves, I wanted to walk up to them and ask if they had lost their Mommies. :0)

We had a great time, Debbie brought her kids along and they were eager to pick out a few special things at the bargain basement prices. The great thing was that further markdowns were being done at the tills too. They would scan stuff in that we thought was 5 or 6 dollars when in actuality it was only a buck! I was practically drooling but I held my composure and only spent about 30 bucks – haha Debbie spent about $90!! I have more will power – neener neener! I overheard a few men talking and laughing as they picked out some discount treats from the shelf “This is just like a Bad Garage sale on Acid!” they said and totally cracked up! I had to laugh too, it was totally like that. I guess I can’t laugh too hard though cuz I think the drool was showing on my face as well. I know I had the classic bloodshot eyes that scream “look a deal!!!!” I need help people – serious help!

Noah is growing!

January 14, 2005

Yesterday was Noah’s follow up visit at the hospital. They want to track the babies progress throughout the first year if your baby had to be in NICU. While waiting for the doctor the nurse gave me a tiny little nightgown for Noah to wear. It was pink and white stripes for my baby boy!! LOL! He looked so precious in it, I was wishing that I had the camera because he looked like he was visiting MARTHA STEWART at Camp Cupcake womens prision!!! ROTFL! My little baby boy has gone from his birth-weight of 6 pds 4 ounces to 11 pounds in less than 2 months! The doctors are thrilled with his progress, the kid is chubby and happy! His fractured collar bone (a birth injury) has healed beautifully and I’m just so glad to see that even though he had a tough time getting here and living in NICU for a few days he’s now healthy and growing – what more could I hope for. He’s completely stolen my heart and the heart of everyone in our family.

Classic Dylan!

January 13, 2005

Conversation between Dylan and myself in the car this morning:

I turn on the radio and a song comes on with plunky piano and hilarious Country twang. I start rockin’ out to the music, bobbin’ my head and dancing while driving just to try and crack Dylan up. He turns to me with a crooked grin…

Dylan:”Oh Mom, not more of that Salon music!”
Me: “What do you mean by Salon music?”
Dylan:”You know, a SALON where they have the old creeky doors, a long counter, and you can get a shot of whiskey!”
Me: (laughing my head off) “You mean a SALOON?”
Dylan: puts his hand to his head and shakes it “Oh man, you got me again!!”

My little review of Clicker

January 13, 2005

I’m really enjoying Blog Clicker over the past few days. It’s a fun way to view other people’s blog and also get lots of traffic to your own site. One part that I really like is the referral program that they have set up – lol! It’s like MULTI-LEVEL Blogging!! :) It’s great because you actually have a downline of people who sign up under you and you get credits for them as well. I also like that anytime I’ve asked them a question over the past few days I’ve recieved an immediate response – even during this hectic launch of their’s. They are currently working on implementing a blog marking feature which is going to be great. I highly recommend Blog clicker and hope you’ll all give it a shot too. Thanks so much to the great people who have clicked and signed up using me as their referral – you guys rock!!! SMOOTCH!!!!!!

Ok all you Wonder Mom’s out there! Wait MEN too, I need your thoughts just as much on this one especially. My son is 10 years old, he’s a tall kid probably one of the biggest in his class but he’s always been “mild” mannered. I raised him alone for several years before I met my husband, so he grew up around adults alot and was never used to being around the kind of conflict that goes on with other kids at all. He’s just the BEST kid ever, super kind and sensitive to other people’s feelings – a really great kid. Well there are now some kids at school that have decided to pick on him a bit. He’s not the type to get into a fight with anyone, in fact he didn’t even mention it to me until today but I guess it’s been happening for a while and is getting worse. I asked him if he’d mentioned it to any teachers at school and he said yes but it doesn’t do anything. I don’t want my kid to resort to beating anyone up but honestly what would you all suggest? I know that at a certain point young boys seem to beat and shove each other for supremacy. I don’t want my son to be a push over either. I know my Dad would tell me that if somebody shoves you then you shove them back. He always said you should never, ever start a fight but you should always “end” it. Maybe that philosophy doesn’t fly in today’s society of political correctness etc. but I’m just curious to know how to bully proof my son without having him turn into the bully. I have made a call to the school already today and will be talking with the principal about this but I really would love any info, opinions etc. that you might have on this topic. What would you do? What have you done in the past with your kids or yourself? What’s the best way to handle the competitive boy angst without damaging the sensitivity that I’ve worked to ingraine into my son? As a mom though I have to admit that I want to go and beat the little punks up myself for pickin’ on my kid! What Mommy wouldn’t feel that way?
